CLIENTS & PROJECTS
CLIENT: SEAN TAYLOR
MUSIC MARKETING EXPERT
MY ROLE: CONTENT DIRECTOR
Sean Taylor is an expert in marketing and branding for music entrepreneurs and his YouTube channel "BrandMan Sean" has over 70,000 subscribers.
In April 2019 Taylor launched his private membership network and mentorship programme, BrandMan Network. For a monthly fee, this network offers artists and producers access to weekly Q&A's, branding sessions and marketing campaign optimisation discussions with some top industry experts. The network also hosts workshops that are designed to fine-tune artists music brands as well as providing exclusive content such as videos and courses on marketing, branding, advertising, PR and more.
My role is to oversee and produce exclusive content on the site regarding his interviews, Q&A's and workshops. I edit the interviews and cut notable clips of interest which are then posted on his main YouTube channel to promote the Network to attract potential new clients. I also compose titles as well as thumbnails for the videos. It is also my job to write scripts for potential topics of discussion for videos on his YouTube channel where he elaborates on snippets I have cut from interviews with artists and producers.
I also write the Music News That Matters (For Indies) newsletter which is a monthly round-up/in-depth look at the most important news for independent artists. This newsletter goes out to over 4,000 producers and artists. We also launched a companion video discussion in November on the BrandMan Sean YouTube channel where Sean and I deep-dived into the most important and interesting topics to give our opinions and analysis. The pilot episode has over 2,000 views on YouTube.

CLIENT: MAJESTIC CASUAL
YOUTUBE CHANNEL/EDITORIAL WEBSITE
MY ROLE: FREELANCE EDITOR
Majestic Casual is a major music organisation with over 4 million subscribers on its YouTube channel. I was one of the 4 founding editors of their editorial website "Majestic Journal" that launched in March 2018.
I've interviewed world-renowned artists such as SG Lewis and Jarreau Vandal. I also attended gigs in the UK and the US and wrote several music technology features on topics including artificial intelligence's impact on the music industry and old vs new tech for concert photographers.
MY ROLE: MANAGER
I've been managing Georna since January 2019 as he began preparations to launch his artist career - branching out from his work as a producer. Georna has gained a solid grounding in the industry over the last five years, performing in numerous bands as well as producing records for various artists. The 21-year-old graduated from Warwick Business School with a First Class Honours degree in the summer of 2018. Since then, he has been cultivating his sound through exploring new opportunities, including setting up his own production firm.
I set-up his first collaboration by approaching and inviting Florida singer-songwriter Melanie Jo to record the vocals on his debut single "Taking Hold".
Released on 28/06/2019, "Taking Hold" has been streamed over 2,000 times across all streaming platforms. I was able to secure a premiere for the single on UK music blog A1234 and also secured radio play on BBC Music Introducing Norfolk and Union Jack Radio.
I directed and edited a behind the scenes documentary looking at the process of making the song, which I also appear in. The video has proven to be popular with his fans on social media and has been a valuable marketing asset for promoting the single. You can watch the documentary on your right.

William gave a live interview in the studio on their programme "The Social" where he spoke about his experience with mental health and what his plans were for fundraising on World Mental Health Day. William also gave an interview on the radio station KLFM 96.7 and on the Enjoy Music More podcast and was featured in two major newspapers in Norfolk - The Eastern Daily Press and the Lynn News.

MARY MEEKER'S 2019 INTERNET TRENDS REPORT FOR THE MUSIC BUSINESS
RESEARCHED & WRITTEN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH AMBER HORSBURGH & CHERIE HU
MY ROLE: COLLABORATING WRITER
Mary Meeker’s annual Internet Trends report, now in its 24th year, has grown to become the de facto bible for Silicon Valley.
The report by the investment veteran and former KPCB general partner tracks the most important global shifts across areas including but not limited to mobile, e-commerce, advertising, streaming and gaming -- all of which will play crucial roles in where the music industry is headed over the next five to ten years.
Myself, Amber Horsburgh and Cherie Hu went through all 333 of Meeker’s slides, summarising how her insights parallel the latest trends and innovations in the music business, and, most importantly, what opportunities they reveal for artists with respect to marketing and creative strategy.
Amber Horsburgh is an LA-based marketing consultant helping managers/labels build creative, data-driven release campaigns. She is the former SVP of Strategy at Downtown Records (Miike Snow, Cold War Kids, Mura Masa, Chet Faker/Nick Murphy, Smino) and Big Spaceship alumni (YouTube Music, Google Play, Samsung and Sonos).
Cherie Hu is a freelance journalist focusing on how technology is transforming music and entertainment. She runs Water & Music, an independent newsletter, podcast and online membership community dedicated to big ideas in music and tech, and has also written for several publications including Billboard, Forbes, Music Business Worldwide and Pitchfork.
BITTER SWEET A.I. SYMPHONY
MY ROLE: CREATOR, EDITOR & PRESENTER
The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being dubbed as the fourth industrial revolution. But what impact will AI have on the music industry in the future?
"Bitter Sweet AI Symphony" is a 15-minute radio documentary that I researched, created and produced which was released on 12th January 2018. I investigated the impact that AI is currently having on the music industry and what it means for the future.
The documentary features high-profile interviews with CEO's and staff from AI music-startup companies including Amper Music and Jukedeck, industry experts and musicians using the software. This includes Taryn Southern, who in September 2018 released the world’s first album to be entirely composed and produced with AI, titled "I Am AI".
In March 2018 the documentary was commissioned and broadcasted by London-based radio station Resonance FM.
